Expansion of CareMeridian-Las Vegas
LAS VEGAS, NV (January 12, 2010) – CareMeridian, a leading provider of post acute health care alternatives, today hosted an Open House and Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony, celebrating the expansion of its Las Vegas facility, located at 7690 Carmen Blvd.
Present at the ceremony were representatives from Democratic Majority Leader and Nevada Senator Harry Reid’s office; and from Congresswoman Shelly Berkley’s office (D-NV-1) — each providing the facility with a proclamation acknowledging CareMeridian’s significant health care contributions to the Las Vegas community. In addition, Las Vegas Councilman Stavros S. Anthony (Ward 4) and long-time CareMeridian supporter Mike Vaswani, President of the Asian American Group of Las Vegas, were present.
Before the expansion, CareMeridian Las Vegas had the capacity to serve 18 individuals in 14,907 square feet for post acute care. With the recent expansion, the facility added an additional 17 beds and 6,281 square feet. CareMeridian Las Vegas is currently the only skilled facility in the state of Nevada providing a designated pediatric program.
Since CareMeridian Las Vegas opened in April 2004, it has provided its patients a broad range of services, including post acute care from: multiple trauma, fractures, extensive wounds, sepsis or multi-system failure, strokes, respiratory failure or insufficiencies, spinal cord injuries and severe traumatic brain injury. In addition, the facility offers tracheostomy care and total parenteral nutrition (TPN) therapy. In a home-like environment, today, CareMeridian Las Vegas offers 35 beds, state-of-the-art equipment, and individualized care plans.
“We are proud that CareMeridian Las Vegas has provided a great service to this region,” said Jamison Ashby, CareMeridian CEO and President. “When we found we could no longer admit new patients because all beds were full, we committed to doubling our space to meet the community’s growing post acute health care needs for adults and children.”
An example of one of the facility’s many success stories is of a couple which entered the facility in late 2006. Victims of a head-on collision, both had been left with severe brain injuries and were comatose when they became CareMeridian patients. Under constant and specialized care from CareMeridian’s treatment team, both eventually awoke from their comas, recognized each other, underwent rehabilitation therapy, and ultimately returned home together.
“It’s deeply rewarding to work in an environment where we are able to witness these types of miracles,” said Sheila Weeks, CareMeridian Las Vegas Administrator.
CareMeridian’s interdisciplinary treatment team offers 24/7 service with a 4:1 patient-staff ratio. The team is comprised of physicians, nurses, case managers, social workers, therapists, activity directors and dieticians. For more information on CareMeridian Las Vegas, phone 702.255.2399.
