Lied Museum Community Partners Grant

ALISO VIEJO, CA (March 9, 2010) – CareMeridian, a leading provider of post acute healthcare alternatives and a partner of The MENTOR Network, recently announced that Lied Discovery Children’s Museum in Las Vegas, Nevada, was awarded with a Community Partners Grant by The MENTOR Network Charitable Foundation.  The Community Partners Program recognizes 501(c)(3) organizations that are either delivering innovative care or developing new ideas and models for doing so.

The Lied Discovery Children’s Museum, located at 833 Las Vegas Boulevard North, provides  interactive exhibits and programs for children and families from economically and culturally diverse backgrounds .  Since opening to the public in September 1990, the Museum has had nearly 2 million visitors and established itself as an important community resource.

The Community Partners Grant will be used to help offset costs for YouthWorks, a program offered through the Museum, which provides opportunities for low-income Clark County high school students to receiving mentoring, job skills training, homework support, and career and education guidance within an interdisciplinary museum setting.

“Our YouthWorks volunteers are provided with paid, part-time employment at the Museum, satisfying volunteer hours for high school graduation,” said Linda Quinn, Lied Museum Executive Director.  “We are so appreciative of CareMeridian and The MENTOR Network Charitable  Foundation for believing in what we do and providing additional funding for under-privileged youths.”

CareMeridian President and CEO Jamison Ashby sits on the Community Partners Grant Committee for the MENTOR Network Charitable Foundation.  “At our CareMeridian Las Vegas facility, we provide a broad range of services to children that have suffered from traumatic brain, spinal cord and other injuries.  Our support of the Lied Museum is a natural extension of our desire to help disadvantaged children in the local community,” he said.
