In November 2008, Patrick Parks was involved in an on-the-job accident which left him with a traumatic brain injury.  While installing a light fixture at a construction site when the power was turned on, Patrick fell from the scaffold.  His doctors gave him a one percent survival prognosis. After multiple surgeries and being moved to a second hospital, it was time for a post acute rehabilitation facility.

Patrick was admitted to CareMeridian Phoenix in June 2009, shortly after the facility opened. His injury had affected everything from his memory and speech to motor skills.  Thanks to intensive 24/7 care and therapy, by August, Patrick was able to stand, dress himself and utter his wife’s name for the first time since the accident. He is now off his feeding tube, happily operates his television’s remote control and enjoys visits with his family.  The CareMeridian team discovered his love for racing and swapped the floral pictures on the walls of his room with a race car painting and went out of their way to remind him of all televised races.  Thanks to his remarkable progress at CareMeridian, his family looks forward to his returning home this year and taking a trip to Disneyland.
